Search
TCM Formula Search Page is designed to search TCM formulas
only. There are two types of searches according to TCM formulas
as following:
TCM Formula Logic Search
TCM Formula Similarity Search
In both search interfaces, there is also a subject limitation
box, which can be used to limit your TCM formula search
by inputting subject terms , IPC or PHC classifications
in the limiting query box.
TCM Formula Logic Search
TCM Formula Logic Search page is a default page when you
switch to TCM Formula Search page by clicking the "TCM
Formula" button from the top tool bar.
Search steps:
1.Input the number of medicines contained in the TCM formulas
you want to search. In default, all formulas in the database
will be searched.
Example: Medicine number of the formula: 10 To 30
You can get formulas as your search hits, which include
10 to 30 medicines in the formulas.
2.Select display format of result list with the display
pull down menu. There are two types of display format: one
is by Application Number, and another is by TCM Formula.
Default display format is by Application number.
3.Enter one or multi medicine Latin names in the query box,
using logic operators to link different Latin names and
using the parentheses to formulate your search query according
you search requirement. You can click the logic operator
button under the query box to add them into your query.
Example: Radix Codonopsis AND Margarita AND (Radix Aucklandiae
OR Radix Glehniae)
4.Click the Search button.
TCM Formula Similarity Search
Click the hyperlink "TCM Formula Similarity Search"
which embedded in the notes in the "TCM Formula Logic
Search" page, and switch into "TCM Formula Similarity
Search" Page.
Search steps:
1.Input the number of medicines contained in the TCM formulas
you want to search. In default, all formulas in the database
will be searched.
Example: Medicine number of the formula: 10 To 30
You can get formulas as your search hits which include 10
to 30 medicines in the formulas.
2.Select display format of result list with the display
pull down menu. There are two display formats: one is by
Application Number, and another is by TCM Formula. Default
display format is by Application number.
3. Enter medicine Latin names into the query boxes respectively.
One box only can be entered with one medicine name.
4. Determine how many medicines at least in your query do
you want to be included in the formulas searched out.
5. Enter subject-limiting words or IPC classifications to
limit your search. If multi words or PHC classifications
are entered to the limiting box, select the logic relationship
between the different words or phrases or IPC. There are
two logic relationships you can choose by clicking the radio
button under the limits box, one is "AND", another
is "OR".
6. Click the Search button.
Examples
1. Using Formula Logic Search, Search the formulas which contain Radix Paeoniae Alba and Rhizoma Atractylodis and at least one TCM from Radix puerariae, Radix Bupleuri or Fructus Forsythiae.The results are displayed by application number.

2. Using Formula Similarity Search, Search the formulas which contain any eight TCMs from the Given 15 TCMs, The results are displayed by TCM formulas.
