Advanced
Search
The Advanced Search Page allows you to make a query to search
the China TCM Patent Database using command line search
syntax.
There are 3 steps to submit a query using the Advanced
Search Page:
1. Select a year or scope of years to search in the Select Years Entry box. There are three time selections in the pull-down menu: (a) Application year; (b) Publication year; (c) Database update year. Default selection year is "Application year" and the default time scope covers all data in the database.
2.Type your search statement into the Query box.
3. Press the Search button.
Note:
1.The search is not case-sensitive. Searching for Hypertension
and searching for hypertension will produce same results.
2. If you use field code to limit your search terms, you
must specify the field by a suffix after the search term
to get the hits you expect, e.g. huang zhiyuan/PA
The advanced search features:
Nested Boolean Expressions
Field Searching
Phrase Searching
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nested Boolean Expressions
You can use the Advanced Search Page to create and execute
Boolean searches with more than two search terms/phrases
that use the Boolean operators (OR, AND, NOT). Along with
these operators, you can use parentheses to further clarify
your search statement. In the absence of parentheses, all
operators associate from left to right.
Example 1
Radix ginseng AND (hypertension OR vascular)
If you enter this query, you will retrieve a list of all
patents which contains both "radix ginseng" and
either "hypertension" or "vascular"
somewhere in the document.
Example 2
hypertension OR (radix ginseng AND rhubarb)
This query would return patents containing either the word
"hypertension" OR both "radix ginseng"
AND "rhubarb".
Example 3
hypertension NOT (radix ginseng OR rhubarb)
This complex query generates a list of hits that contain
the word "hypertension", but do not contain any
references containing "radix ginseng" OR "rhubarb".
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Field Searching
The Advanced Search Page allows you to search individual
fields found within patents. You can find a list of all
indexed fields in the table under the query box of the page.
The full names for each field are given on the right of
the column and the corresponding field code is listed on
the left.
To narrow your search to hits occurring within a single
field, add a suffix with the field code after your search
term followed by a forward slash (/). If you do not select
a specific field, the text of the entire patent will be
searched. If you need help with field searching, see the
Field Searching Help Page.
Example 1
sun/INR
This will search for the word sun within the Inventors Name
field of the database. Occurrences of the search term anywhere
else on the front page will be ignored.
Example 2
A61k035/78/IC1
This query searches for the Main IPC A61k035/78, and will
return a list of all patents assigned to that class.
Example 3
xie xiuqiong/INR AND hypertension/TI
As this example demonstrates, you can mix field searching
with Boolean searching. This query would retrieve a list
of hits which contain sun in the Inventors Name field, and
the word hypertension in the Patent Title.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phrase Searching
A group of words will be treated as a single search term.
This allows you to search for a multi-word phrase rather
than specifying each word as a separate term. If multi phrases
appeare in one search query, logic operators must be used
to separate different phrases.
Example 1
Herba Calthae
Searching on this phrase would return a list of all the
patents which have the phrase Herba Calthae anywhere within
the indexed text.
Example 2
Bulbus Lilii and (Radix Bupleuri Radix OR Paeoniae Alba
OR Semen Ziziphi Spinosae)
Searching on this query would return a list of all the patents
which contain the phrases "Bulbus Lilii" and (Radix
Bupleuri Radix OR Paeoniae Alba OR Semen Ziziphi Spinosae)
anywhere within the indexed text
Example 3
zhao guoxin/INR
This query would find all occurrences of the phrase zhao
guoxin within the Applicant field.
Examples
To search all the patent related to Radix Paeoniae Alba and Rhizoma Pinelliael or Poria to cure hypertension.
